Here at the New Jersey Institute of Technology we are happy and excited to welcome the student chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals. We have been welcomed and received by the campus community with the utmost enthusiasm. With 13 active members we have a diverse group that we hope continues to grow.  The student chapter board consists of Stephanie Rolon as President, Sophia Akhter as Vice President, Samuel John Polimary as Secretary, Anna Warner as Treasurer and Anthony Krake as Liason.  Our academic advisors George Olsen and Arijit Sengupta have supported our efforts in establishing this wonderful chapter. We look forward to growing and building strong relationships with not only our student population but the professional ties ASSP has afforded us.

On January 14, 2016, NJIT held its first Student Chapter meeting. This was a combined meeting with the NJ ASSP Chapter. Stephanie Rolon was appointed as the new Student Section President. The topic of the meeting was Prevention through Design presented by George Olsen. There was also a panel discussion on careers in safety with a focus of providing insightful guidance for student members. The ASSP Society Chapter Past President, Kathy Seabrook was in attendance and participated as one of our panel members. The meeting we a great success and our Chapter looks forward to more opportunities to support the new Student Section.
