Industrial Hygienist (Asbestos Inspector)

BSI is actively pursuing experienced, enthusiastic, dedicated and self-motivated individuals to join our growing NYC environmental consulting practice. Experienced Industrial Hygienist/Asbestos Inspectors primary duties include environmental and health and safety surveys; review of construction drawings/documents; preparation of environmental survey reports. Additional IH experience/certifications, applicable degree a plus, must be accustomed to a fast-paced work environment, effective verbal and written communication skills required.

Job Requirements

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience. IH experience with NYC SCA is a plus.
  • Ability to comprehend/review construction drawings, knowledge of building components
  • Working knowledge of Excel/Word
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD (two dimensional editing)

Certification Requirements

  • NYS DOL Licensed Asbestos Inspector
  • NYS DOL Asbestos Project Monitor and Air Sampling Technician
  • EPA Lead Risk Inspector
  • OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety and Health Training
  • 4-Hour Supported Scaffold Training

The following licenses and certifications are considered a plus but not required

  • NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Asbestos Investigator
  • OSHA Confined Space Training
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Training
  • NYS DOL Asbestos Designer License
  • NYS DOL Mold Assessor License
